Does testicular cancer always require the removal of a testicle?

No, testicular cancer does not always require removal of a testicle, but in most cases, surgery called orchiectomy is the first step to remove the affected testicle. This helps confirm the diagnosis and prevent testicular cancer from spreading. If detected early and confined to one testicle, removal may be the only treatment needed. However, in some cases, additional therapies like chemotherapy or radiation may be required. The other testicle usually continues to function normally, preserving fertility and hormone levels.
